Privacy Policy for Prompt Helper Gemini
Last updated: February 19, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Prompt Helper Gemini ("the Extension") collects, uses, stores, and shares user data. By using the Extension, you agree to this policy.
1. Data collection
The Extension may collect or process the following:
- Account information (signed-in users): When you sign in with Google, we receive and store your Google user ID, email address, and display name. This is obtained via Google OAuth and verified by our backend; we do not store your Google password.
- Usage data: The Extension may store locally (on your device) counts of feature usage (e.g. number of prompt enhancements or questions used) to enforce free-tier limits and show your balance. This may be sent to our servers when checking subscription status or usage limits.
- Subscription and payment: If you subscribe to a paid plan, our payment provider (Stripe) and our backend process billing-related data (e.g. customer ID, subscription status). We do not store your full payment card details; Stripe handles payment data in accordance with its own privacy policy.
- Prompts and content: Text you enter (e.g. prompts you improve or questions you ask) may be sent to our backend and/or third-party AI providers (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) to provide the service. We do not use this content for training AI models beyond what is required to fulfill your request.
We do not collect or process data from your browsing history on other websites except when you explicitly use the Extension on supported AI chat pages (e.g. ChatGPT, Gemini) to improve prompts there.
2. How we use your data
- To provide and improve the Extension (e.g. sign-in, subscription status, prompt refinement, usage limits).
- To communicate with you about your account or subscription if necessary.
- To comply with applicable law and to protect our rights and the security of our services.
We do not sell your personal data.
3. Storage
- On your device: The Extension stores data locally using Chrome's storage APIs (e.g. sign-in state, preferences, usage counts, subscription cache). This data stays on your device unless you uninstall the Extension or clear extension data.
- On our servers: Account identifiers (e.g. user ID, email), subscription status, and usage-related data may be stored on our backend and payment infrastructure to provide the service and enforce limits.
4. Sharing and disclosure
- Service providers: We may share data with service providers that help us operate the Extension (e.g. cloud hosting, payment processing via Stripe, AI APIs used to refine prompts). These providers are contractually or legally required to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.
- Legal: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or government request, or when necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- No sale: We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for their marketing purposes.
Your choices
- You can sign out from the Extension at any time (Settings → Sign Out), which clears your sign-in state from the Extension and local storage.
- You can uninstall the Extension to stop all local data collection and remove locally stored data.
- For payment and billing data, you can manage or cancel your subscription through the billing portal or your Stripe customer account.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
